Famous Immigrants to the United States – Part 2

This is an article highlighting famous US immigrants from Ireland. Many of us are not aware that talented and creative Irish-descent personalities have been giving us good entertainment and inspiration in music and the arts.

Film producer and director Walt Disney was very successful in the entertainment scene more specifically in the animated movies and putting up a Disney World . Mickey Mouse is no doubt one of the best cartoon characters that has been created and popularized by Walt Disney . This is one of the highlights of Disney’s career as an animator. Aside from Mickey Mouse , Walt Disney also ventured on producing full length animated films like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The Disneyland Themed Park or Disney world to most people, is yet another phenomenal hit to the young and adult alike. The Disneyland theme park today has entertainment for all featuring famous Disney cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and Disney movies.

Another famous immigrant in the US is Mariah Carey. She was born to an Irish-American mother and Afro-Venezuelan and African-American father in March 27, 1970. Her talent was honed by practice when she was of tender age having a mother who is also an opera singer. This environment is what exposed Mariah to the world of singing. During the 90’s, Mariah Carey made waves by creating a name when her singles made it to the US Billboard Hot 100. This was followed by album by album success. Her talent was acknowledged with several music awards she has received from different reputable award-giving bodies like Grammy Awards and World Music Awards.

In the area of literature, people have been captivated and intrigued by the horror novels written by Anne Rice. She grew up in an Irish-American family and has lived a significant part of her life in New Orleans, Louisiana. At a young age, Anne Rice finished, what would be the start of a long career as an author, Interview with the Vampire. The release was accepted with great reviews and soon after, her Vampire Chronicles consisting of 10 books were finished one by one. Interview with the Vampire was adapted into film in 1994 starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst. She also wrote three books offered to Jesus Christ in “The Life of Christ” and other short fictions and miscellaneous novels.

Many other Irish and Irish-descent famous people have contributed a lot in the American society. Their families, for different reasons, ended becoming immigrants in the United States and started rising their families here.
