The US government has implemented an immigration policy to serve as a guideline for people from other nations who wish to work, live, study or visit its country. Number of days varies per country. Family based visas under the numerical limitations are released within 5 years or more. For the unlimited family based visa, waiting time is between 3 months to 5 years depending on the category the person being petitioned belongs to. Employment visas, on the other hand, vary per country based on its availability.
Why is visa needed? Visa is important since it provides information about the person entering the US, the purpose and the duration of the stay. It is also a sign that the person has legally gone through the process of legitimately entering the country. Visa regulates the number of people entering the US and this protects its local people from their fare share of employments and government provided benefits.
