Reason for Visa Denials

Coming to the US as a business traveler or as a tourist is a common practice for many foreign nationals all over the world. Even before, there has been an influx of tourists coming in and out of the US for commerce, trade, medical aid, leisure or visits to family or friends. These travels are welcomed by the country for the economic contributions these travels bring. However, it is a well-known fact that many people are denied entry to the US based on many reasons. Let us go through some of the causes of visa denials of foreign nationals seeking tourist visas for business or pleasure purposes.

When a foreign national intends to visit the US, the first thing that he needs to do is secure a nonimmigrant application form and completely fill it up for submission. Same with other application forms a person may encounter in his life, he is always expected to provide answers truthfully and accurately. One reason which may cause visa denial is the intentional giving of false personal or business related information. Why does the US require every tourist to accomplish an application form if it will allow fraudulent information? An application form is an initial step for a foreign national to establish his clear intentions why he is seeking a tourist visa that is why he is required to provide this evidence with a thoroughly and honestly answered application form.

Many foreign nationals think that they can get away with minor information they do not declare on the application form. Many believe that there are probably a hundred application forms a consul officer has to check and this translates to minimal checking of those documents. Well, this isn’t so. A consular officer may be given very limited time to verify each and every information an applicant puts on his application form but, difficult as it is, a consular officer meticulously ensures that information provided are consistent with other supporting documents and perhaps he checks it against available US public listed information if necessary. This practice is evident with many testimonials or confessions of applicants deliberately misrepresenting themselves in the hope of getting a visa but in the end, visa denied to them.

Another consideration of the consular officers when reviewing a nonimmigrant visa application is the person’s current personal and business standings in his native country. This means that there is a significant reason that this person will return to his country and not illegally stay in the US. A good reason which may hold bearing for a consular officer’s approval is the foreign national’s current employment, properties and family ties. If the applicant owns a family business he is most likely to return. If he has a family he’ll temporarily leave when he visits the US, he is most likely to go home to them. These are some reasonable conditions which help establish that a tourist applicant will really go to the US for vacation or business trip and not for work or live there permanently. Failure to provide such strong evidences often results to visa denials.

A nonimmigrant visa denial does not permanently affect future nonimmigrant visa applications. This means he may still apply for a nonimmigrant visa upon providing more evidence to support his return home.
