As part of the Obama administration’s commitment in its immigration efforts, it has unveiled the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website. The new design has been launched by the Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano herself with other White House and Homeland security personnel.
The aim of the newly designed USCIS website is to make it more user-friendly by providing easy instructions to people checking for their USCIS case status or those who are on the process of filing petitions. It is also full with dropdown or collapsible menus providing itemized topics that let one click on the specific immigration topic that concerns the individual. With the previous USCIS website, it also has itemized menus however, the presentation is still a little bit confusing. According to Sec. Napolitano, the USCIS website gets 230,000 visits a day. With this kind of figure, the site really needs to be easy to use. In addition, the facelift will be beneficial to all visitors from the young age bracket to the senior citizens.
Another highlight of the new site is the provision to receive text messages and email alerts during the course of an immigration process. This extends extra service to people to keep them updated on their petition or USCIS case status without the need to go to an immigration center or call any hotline number. Aside from this, a Spanish version of the site is already available.
All the innovations of the USCIS website hopes to provide better service to all immigrants.
