Texas Plans on Using E-verify for Immigrant Workers

Illegal immigrant workers are not easily detected in most states in the US for lack of an additional hiring procedure to do this. The proposed use of E-verify for this purpose is rising in Texas as other states have began to mandate employers to comply with federal immigration laws when hiring workers.
Mission Viejo, California is one of the first states to implement a stringent process of verifying the immigrant status of workers before being accepted for employment. If Texas will follow suit, it will require its contractors to match worker’s immigrant status against the government database to determine if the worker is here legally or illegally. It is an initial step to clean-up illegal immigrant workers’ proliferation in the state.
Certain level of E-verify is said to have been in place by employees in Texas. Compliance to checking of immigration status under the government verification program is being pushed to take effect. Right now, City Council members are yet to work on the discussion of such program.
